History of Maspion

Maspion is one of the most legendary products in Indonesia. Indonesian people will always be reminded of the advertisement of a Chinese-Indonesian man named Alim Markus, along with artist Titiek Puspa with his trademark: “Cintailah produk-produk Indonesia.”

There is nothing wrong with that trademark because Maspion products are produced in Indonesia. Maspion’s history, including the history of the Indonesian industry.

In 1965, Alim Markus dropped out of junior high school at Chiauw Chung. As the oldest child, he not only worked hard but also learned to think hard. He helped his father’s business in years that were not good for the business world. His father, Alim Husin, had a small workshop in Surabaya.

The effort began in the early 1960s. In addition to making household appliances, Alim Husin also “opened a One Man Show store by providing repair services for hand water pumps and petromax lamps.” The tools made by Alim Husin include: sieves, buckets, iron plates, stoves, cups, plates, pan and all metalware.

Although not in school, Alim Mark continued to study English, Chinese, Japanese, and Accounting. He also studied German and Korean. In addition, Alim Markus joined management courses at Pan Pacific Management in Taiwan and short courses at the National University of Singapore (NUS) business school in Singapore.

When the doors of foreign investment began to open in Indonesia, the business world seemed to be stretching again. Alim Markus, who is already 20 years old, began to seriously go into business with his father. The father founded a new company. Chinese names: Jin Feng (Puncak Emas). However, the company later became known as Maspion. That name is an acronym for Mengajak Anda Selalu Percaya Industri Olahan Nasional.
